With friends like him who needs enemies.

The ringing of the clock, sounds a halting alarm,
I wake to see my life, my life, my bed, my morning calm.
Stepping to the right I see what I have found.
A need to not wake and a dream that soon absconds.
The morning coffee and a cup of my favourite liquor,
The fleeting thought of my cubicle makes me sicker.
I dreamt the tin man asked the wizard for a heart,
All I kingdom is for a hot shower, pre ironed clothes for a start.
A sea of creases folds into perfect harmony,
As the piping hot Titanic floats along ceremoniously.
I forsake my fright to face the toughest challenge yet,
In a cold shower , a blackout, the water and I met.
It was a fleeting love, running like the midnight post,
Am I to blame, soaked, frozen from head to toe.
Turning on the tube, the radio, draw the curtains aside,
The day is bright, Monday, my soul cowers inside.
‘Crazy Mary’, on this illustrious early wake,
Pearl Jam and irony both need to give me a break.
Picasso would never have been more proud.
In white, blue, grey and brown, I am coloured loud.
I leave a bag in shoulder and a grin in hand,
I leave feeling myself sinking into the sand.
I shut the door so that not a whisper may creep,
For now its my humble abode’s turn to sleep.
